2006 PLANET X WINTER GAMES GAME ON - First round of riders announced

Held at Thredbo and Perisher Blue (NSW), The Planet X Winter Games will be staged from August 21st to 24th. The first round of competitors have just been announced including Andrew Burton, formerly ranked top 10 in the world & Australia’s #1 ranked snowboarder & Olympic Team member, back to defend his gold medal from last years games.
 
Fellow Torino Winter Olympians, Damon Hayler, Holly Crawford & Emily Thomas are also confirmed to compete in the Planet X Winter Games events alongside Tim Myers, Ryan Tienne, Russ Henshaw, Jarryd Williams, Max Timmins, Cheyne Southwell, Stephanie Hickey, Gee Cormack, Jenny Owens & Sarah Sauvey with more to be announced soon.

The athletes competing in the Planet X Winter Games event are undoubtedly some of the finest freestyle snowboarders and skiers in the world, the brand new head-to-head contest format provides a fantastic opportunity to watch some of our hottest young riders battle it out with our pro’s as they compete for their slice of the $18,000.00AUD prize pool up for grabs.
 
The event also includes the amazing Snow Mountain Bike Quad Eliminator competition and will be celebrated in style with a massive after party at The Station Resort, Thursday 24th August with a Night Rail Jam, Live Bands ‘Bomba’  & ‘Casual projects’ and  DJs ‘Matt-E-P & Elroy’ from Beat-fix (Home nightclub Syd).
 
Commencing in 1999, the Planet X Winter Games is one of the biggest snow sports events in Australia with an international field of competitors in Snowboard and Freeride Ski.
 
The 2006 event schedule is as follows:
 
DAY 1 – Monday August 21 - Thredbo
Boarder X and Skier X.
Mens & Women’s. Snowboard and Ski
 
DAY 2 - Tuesday August 22 - Thredbo
Slopestyle. Men’s and Women’s. Snowboard and Ski
 
DAY 3 – Wednesday August 23 - Thredbo
Big Air. Men’s. Snowboard and Ski
Snow Mountain Bike          
 
DAY 4 – Thursday August 24 - Perisher Blue
Half Pipe. Men’s and Women’s. Snowboard and Ski
