Some of the world's best snowboarders will be strutting their stuff at Falls Creek when they participate in the Burton Australian Open Snowboarding Championships presented by Motorola
The event is part of Burton's Global international Open circuit that starts in NZ, then moves to Falls Creek (for the Australian leg) and early next winter continues in Europe, Japan and America.
This rider-driven circuit was founded by Jake Burton and is now the most prestigious Snowboarding event on the planet.
This year's event features the 'crowning' of its first male and female Global Open Championships at the Burton US Open. The other big news is the highest placed Australian rider in the Men's and Women's, Pipe + Slopestyle event (backed by Burton and Motorola), will win a wildcard to the US Open in Stratton, Vermont between March 12-18, 2007.
Plus the highest placed Australian rider in the Men's and Women's Open competition receives a bonus cheque to help cover the costs to visit the US Open.
The vibe at the Falls Creek-based second Burton Open, between August 25-27, will be amazing. With over $60,00 in cash and prizes you can imagine there'll be lots of thrills and spills during the three day event. With live entertainment and a invitational night rail jam on the Saturday night Falls will be the place to be on this 4th weekend in August.
