HAMPUS MOSESSON TO DEFEND TITLE AT 6(SIX) STAR TTR EVENT, THE NOKIA AIR&STYLE
Saturday, 4 November 2006
REIGNING TTR TOUR CHAMPION, MATHIEU CREPEL(FRA), TO START TITLE DEFENCE AND SHAUN WHITE(USA) RETURNS The first 6(six) Star event of the 2006/2007 TTR World Snowboard Tour kicks off next month in Munch at the Olympic Stadium. The event, The Nokia Air and Style will take place on Saturday 2nd December, 2007, is the worlds biggest annual urban stadium event.
With one defending event champion, a current Olympic Halfpipe champion and the current reining TTR Tour Champion converging in front of thousands of raging fans, the night spectacle will without a doubt be the ‘clash of the titans’ and will set the stage for the grueling five month TTR World Snowboard Tour.
The evening’s main focus will be on the sixteen pre selected riders of which eight have been directly qualified from the previous years Nokia Air and Style results, including the top six 0506 TTR Top World Ranked riders with the remaining selection consisting of wild cards via the discretion of the event organizers.
Hampus Mosesson(SWE) as 2006 Nokia Air and Style champion and will certainly be out to hold back the heavy hitting competitors which include France’s Mathieu Crepel who had already proved that he is capable of a win in Munich by finishing a close second to Mosesson last year. Crepel then went on to secure a blistering season of results culminating in his winning of the TTR World Tour Championships crown.
Even with Crepel’s previous seasons success and inert knowledge of the Nokia Air and Style competition format, the compact powerhouse must watch his back with Vice TTR World Tour Champion Risto Mattila(FIN) and TTR World Nr#3 Antti Autti(FIN). The red headed Finn narrowly lost to Crepel in a heart-breaking end of season duel for the Tour crown. The chance for Mattila to meet Crepel again at the first 6(six) Star event of the season is a chance he won’t let slip by without consequence.
And if the competition was not already fierce enough, America’s most famous kid and household name will be lighting up the arena. Shaun White has confirmed his presence and has already won the Air and Style twice consecutively. White is current Olympic Halfpipe champion and has won every event he entered last season. He only had time to cumulate in three of a required four TTR event format results last year(of which he won all of them!), he still finished an amazing sixth overall on the tour.
White has more time this year, and will surely be gunning for another world record season of flawless results. The Nokia Air and Style may well be his first.
This years event also boast the worlds largest stadium kicker ever built and, with a show including a rookie challenge consisting of the next generations hottest young riders, top live bands, and FMX action, Munich will be the place to be come 2nd December, 2007.
