Kelly Clark Finishes a Perfect TTR Season at the US Open
Kelly Clark has won every single TTR halfpipe competition she entered this season and did not disappoint here at the Burton US Open. Kelly was going huge in the pipe, as always, and set a new bar in women's snowboarding with a run that consisted of a frontside 900, backside 540, frontside 1080 and finished off with a Cab 720. With her win today, Kelly banked 1000 Swatch TTR World Ranking points, which allowed her to finish in the TTR World No. 2 position. Kelly was stoked on her win saying, "Today was an amazing day, I did not expect it to be this good after a week of poor weather and limited practice, but I was able to come out and put down the runs that I wanted to do and walk away with another US Open win." She continued to comment on the final TTR rankings for the season saying, "I'm so happy Jamie had such an incredible season. I'm so stoked for her being World Champ. Getting on the podium, I'm happy with that." Coming in second place in the halfpipe was Hannah Teter (USA) and Gretchen Bleiler (USA) took third.
Kazu Kokubo Wins Second Consecutive US Open Halfpipe Title
The men dropped into the 22-foot halfpipe in the afternoon and Kazu Kokubo put on an amazing display of style to take his second consecutive US Open halfpipe title. Kazu put down a winning run that was made up of a frontside alley-oop, frontside 900, Michaelchuck, frontside double cork 1080 and finished his run with a Cab 1080. Not only did Kazu stomp his tricks, but his fluid style and amplitude were definitely factors in his win. Kazu was super excited about his victory saying, "I'm just so happy, that's it. Today's weather was bad, but everybody was pushing. Everybody rode good." Iouri Podladtchikov came in second place, which earned him enough TTR Ranking points to finish the season in TTR World No. 2. Japanese rider, Kohei Kudo, also had a good day landing himself in third place on the halfpipe podium.
The TTR Top 10 men and women were all finalized for the 2010/11 season here at the Burton US Open and the entire $200,000 TTR prize purse was distributed to the Top 5 men and Top 3 women.
