Vicci Miller(GBR) Win’s The Candy Jam


Åre, Sweden – Great Britain’s Vicci Miller laid down an explosive series of heats during last weeks 2006 Candy Jam putting distance between her and her competition which included none other than fellow Brit and Women’s World Nr#2 Jenny Jones.  The women’s competition set in the Swedish resort of Are  marked the final event on the 2005/2006 Women’s TTR World Snowboard Tour.  Millers win brought closure to those historical months, giving birth to the new Women’s TTR Tour Champion.

The tour, lead by World Nr#1 Cheryl Maas(NED), World Nr#2 Jenny Jones and World Nr#3 Natasza Zurek(CAN) meant that Miller’s weekend result and its impact on overall standings solidified her position as one of the Worlds top ten female competitors (Miller is now in 6th place).  The final tour results (closure will be on the 30th April,2006) have identified a new breed of freestyle women, the likes of which are leading the charge of competitive snowboarding into the 2007 TTR Tour season scheduled to commence this summer.

The 2006 Candy Jam’s top placed competitors were to be awarded a good part of the healthy 10,000 Euro  prize pool as their riding was challenged throughout the park, hip and jib park Qualifiers. Sanna Niilol a of Finland put on a dominating performance, qualifying comfortably in the top ten and winning  the prize for the highest air of the day. Other standout  riders included  Cecilia Larsen of Sweden, Tina Ramholt of Switzerland, German’s Conny Bleicher, and the Austrian contingent Julia Baumngartner,Kathy Gappmayr, Claudia Fliri and Lisa Wiik.  
     
Julia Baumngartner who had won her spot in the contest at the Austrian Masters, showed stupendous style on the kickers and went on to win the ‘Best Trick’ of the day for her beautifully boned switch backside 180. Fellow Austrian Claudia Fliri was also riding hard. Her strong combos earned her third place on the podium. Jenny Jones, who after the Chicken Jam was placed second in the girls TTR World ranking stomped solid runs earning her a well deserved second place. However, it was fellow Brit Vicci Miller who dominated the finals in World class form and went home one rich, happy camper.

And, with the last event closed so too is the 2005/2006 tour.  All men women results will be compiled by the 30th April with official World Rankings available under www.ttrworldtour.com. Its been a long season, challenging for the riders, many of which have never had such a dynamic tour to compete in and definitely never the chance to be a TTR World Champ!

A big shout out to all the Women who committed and aided its initiative, granting the TTR as the official Women’s Tour body.  Communicated under one clear common Branded ethic, the Women’s TTR World Tour will continue next season (dates to be defined after the TTR General assembly in Munich in May) and is destined to grow in volume and participants. For now Miss Maas flies the flag and will reign hold status come new season. Congratulations Cheryl.
