Art on Snow

Wednesday, 9 September 2009

After a sensational launch last year ARt on Snow, the sub and board culture event is back for 2009! Starting 12th to 19th December 2009.

Last years outstanding success made it very clear that this exciting event had to happen again.

The place to be for all enthusiasts of snow art and board scene is Kleinwalsertal.

This one week event hosts a mix of exhilarating board displays, workshops, live performances, parties and a whole range of sub-culture scene.

It is an unique platform for the “board rider artists” to make themselves known and display their talents.

The Kleinwalsertal situated within the Vorarlberg in Austria is the perfect setting for this event. Vorarlberg is a pioneering area for ski and snowboard runs in the alpine region. It lies in the very west of Austria and is bordered by Switzerland, Lichtenstein and Germany. It offers breathtaking scenery as well as boundless opportunities for the board riders to freely show of their skills.

The ARt on Snow show will stretch from the Casino in Riezlern right up to Hirschegg – covering an area of 2,000 sqm.

Just like last year, the central theme and the topic of discussion at the Casino will be Skiing.

What’s new this year is the concept of a supporting country. This year ARt on Snow will be partnered by United Kingdom. One can only imagine that the central theme at the Casino will be “British”. Each year a different partner country will be represented at the ARt on Snow event.

A new highlight this year will be the x-ops Friends Invitational event where “homegrown talent” Elias Elhardt and Friedl May will be able to invite 8 other friends, thanks to the sponsor x-ops.mobi, for a high performance snowboard session. This event will take place at the Crystal Ground – Snowpark, Kleinwalsertal.

Snowboarding and culture are to be the buzzwords of the week at the unique location of Walserhaus in Hirschegg. Besides photography and art exhibitions, live performances, art and photography workshops, and historical exhibits are also planned as well as video premieres.

The two regions Kleinwalsertal and Oberstdorf will be transformed into a showcase of sculpted ice. “Das Höchste” (the highest point) will prove to be a thrilling setting for the artists to present their “high definition” art at the “highest level” – “highest” in every sense of the word. Highly thrilling!

The Art on Snow will be completed with diverse and spontaneous sessions, climaxing with reveling at the ARt on Party to take place at the Casino and theARt of(f) Party” in Walserhaus.

Don´t forget: Snowboarding or Sking are of course also at the top of the list.
