VAIL, Colo. – Jan. 29, 2001 – It’s a powder day in Vail as skiers and snowboarders enjoy 16.5 inches of fresh snow that has fallen at the ski area in the past 24 hours. And, the snow continues to fall as another major winter storm blankets the Vail Valley.

“It’s an epic powder day,” said Julie Rust, Vail ski patrol director. “Depending on where you were skiing, there was upwards of 20 inches of fresh snow. You could find powder all over the mountain – there was enough new snow to offer up face shots on every run.”
