Thursday, 13 June 2002

Ten centimetres of snow has fallen overnight at Victoria’s Mount Hotham. The lights went out across the resort last night, the wind was howling -reaching up to 70 kph. However at around 3am the wind dropped to 40kph as did the temperature - which is currently  Minus 2.3 degrees.

It has been snowing heavily all morning and is expected to continue for the rest of the week and possibly into next week.

The Big D has been open since Saturday and, providing the conditions continue to bring us snow, there is a possibility that by the weekend we will also open Summit Quad, Playground Double, Summit Trainer and maybe Road Runner.

It appears that June could be the perfect time to warm up the legs after summer and get into the snow sports activities we have all been waiting for. If you are planning a trip but haven't booked yet, give the Mount Hotham Reservation Centre a call and they will help you with everything, from accommodation and flight bookings to lift tickets and equipment hire.
