ENTIRE RESORT TO OPEN TOMORROW HOTHAM THE FIRST RESORT IN AUSTRALIA TO HIT ONE METRE
By Press Release
Monday, 9 July 2007
All lifts will be open at Hotham from tomorrow (Saturday) morning after a massive snowstorm dumped another 30cm of snow at the resort.
Hotham is the first and only mountain in Australia to have a natural snow depth of more than one metre. More than 68cm of natural snow has fallen at Victoria’s highest resort in the last 7 days, and Hotham’s snow depth in snowmaking areas is now more than 1.2 metres.
Saturday morning will see the Orchard and Keogh’s chairlifts open for the first time in 2007. Gotcha and Blue Ribbon chairlifts also opened for the first time today.
Orchard and Keogh’s chairlifts give access to some of the best intermediate cruisers in the country, as well as to more challenging runs like Spargo’s and One Tree Hill. The Gotcha chairlift allows skiers and boarders to access Hotham’s double-black extreme snow area, with such inspiring runs such as Mary’s Slide, Lindsay’s and Coles Bowl.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the resort, Blue Ribbon is considered by many to be the cream of Hotham’s terrain, with a mixture of challenging and intermediate tree lined runs offering the best on-piste snow-gum skiing in Australia.
The highest resort in Victoria is set for a bumper weekend with an Oakley demo session and Snow Skate Saturday also taking place at DP Hotel.
Belinda Trembath, General Manager of Mount Hotham Skiing Company, said “Whatever your skiing level, a visit to Hotham will mean you can take advantage of excellent mid-winter snow conditions. These snowstorms are fantastic news for our school holiday guests.”
Additional snow is also predicted across the next three days, with most forecasters predicting arctic temperatures and falls of between 20 and 40cm.
Don’t delay, make the most of the early conditions and snap up an unbeatable Hotham deal!
Prices start from $386 including two night’s accommodation at all-new Higgi Apartments (based on four share) and a two-day all-mountain lift pass.
