Mt Hotham Mid winter is here early

By Press Release

Monday, 8 May 2006

It may be still be officially Autumn, but just try telling that to Huey. Winter certainly seems to be upon us, and probably has been for about the past month with cold temps and reasonable snowfalls. The resort looks fantastic this morning after another good snowfall yesterday and overnight. Click here for more photos.

Hotham received about 20cm of snow yesterday and there are still light snow showers coming through. The snow started falling yesterday morning and the temperatures continued to drop during the day and have remained low. The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted more snow showers over the next day or so with temps remaining cold.

Not only does it look like winter, it really felt like winter as well, with the road clearers out working, cars stuck here and there, and a few of the locals looking longingly a Heavenly Valley.
