Resort Rundown:

Schliersee and Rottach-Egern are two villages from which you can reach the resort.   They are both rather small and quiet and attract some high-society crowds.

The resort is a rather secret area, mostly frequented by people from around the area (including Munich and Nuremberg). With cheap tickets and decent on-slope food it's always worth a visit.

There's shuttle busses from both sides of the mountains going up to the bottom of the lifts.  I doesn't matter which side you come from, you are forced to take an old and slow chairlift that takes you up to the summit. From there you can reach any other lift on the whole mountain.

Terrain:

Inbounds: The inbounds terrain is very safe with small hits here and there. The runs are mostly intermediate and good fun for speeding over rollers and stuff like that. Going down the Sutten side you can check out the 3.2km run back to the bottom of the chair-lift. It's got some nice rollers and little hits but nothing really big. Its kinda  like one of those "who's first to the lift" runs where you use skiers as racing gates.

The other side of the resort is pretty much the same story as the Sutton side with an intermediate run taking you to the chairlift or a T-bar. The bad thing about the chairs are that they are usually very crowded on a nice day and you might have to wait three quarters of an hour until you finally get to enjoy the ride. The smaller T-bars take you to a variety of runs from very easy at the Firstalm to advanced (black diamonds) at the Roßkopf.

Backcountry (Out of bounds):  If you know your way around or if you bump into a local rider that does (or if you're brave enough to follow someone's tracks that lead you into the deep white open...) you'll instantly fall in love with this area. There's some amazing runs and couloirs hidden in the trees, usually right next to the lift. Sometimes it needs a short hike (1-5minutes) to get to the good stuff but this is often not even necessary. Take up the Brecherspitz T-bar to find long and steep tree-runs on it's right side. After some adrenaline filled minutes you'll end up at the  Freudenreich lift pulling you back up to the bottom of the Brecherspitz lift again. (A quick German lesson: Freudenreich translates to "land of joy" and this is no joke!)

Nightlife:

There's no thrilling night-life but some nice bars like the Moon Club with disco music or a cosy  Irish Pub. And after all there's still the Bräustüberl which is always worth a visit (just be careful with the waitresses!)

Getting to the mountain

From anywhere in the world: Fly to Munich airport

From Munich: hire a car, catch a train or jump on the bus. The ski-Title can be reached form both sides of the mountain: Schliersee and Rottach-Egern. Rottach has better around the mountain facilities like an aquatic centre, McDonald's, skate ramps, Casino and the Bräustüberl in Tegernsee where you can check out original Bavarian beer culture including fat female servants carrying up to 12 or so 1l beermugs at one time!!! On the other hand it's a lot easier to reach the Schliersee side with better roads and train-connections.

Car: Take the Autobahn A8 to the exit 97 to "Miesbach". Then follow the B472 and B307, pass the city of "Schliersee" and in the middle of nowhere is a little sign telling you to turn right. X (To get to tho Rottach-side take the exit "Holzkirchen" from the A8, follow the B318 until there's signs telling you where to find the "Suttengebiet".
Drive time is 1-1,5 hours for both sides.

Train: There's special tickets including a return ticket from Munich to Schliersee and a one day adult pass for approximately 60DM. There's a shuttle bus connecting the Schliersee train station with the lift stations every hour.

Bus: There's a regular bus service from the airport to the ski Title taking about 1,5 hours. Might be a bit pricey, though.

Schliersee accommodation

Unfortunately, there is no slope side accommodation at Schliersee. You can find Bed & Breakfast places from 20Dm a night. The norm are Hotels and pensions.
